KUALA LUMPUR – B40 students living in 30 People’s Housing Project (PPRs) flats in nine states will now be able to enjoy free Wi-Fi under the Celcom Home Wireless service for home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) session until April 30, following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).

Celcom Axiata Bhd (Celcom) said in a statement today the initiative is aimed primarily at students sitting the SPM and STPM exams in Penang, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Sabah.

“The service enables unlimited data usage for learning applications and online classroom sessions via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom and Webex,” it said.

Moreover, 24 community internet centres (PIK) managed by Celcom throughout Perlis, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, have extended their operating hours from 9am to 9pm daily to allow students more time for their studies.

This initiative is part of Celcom’s efforts in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to provide communications relief to B40 students. – Bernama, February 8, 2021
