[UPDATED] Green light for gyms, golfing, driving and flying schools, fishing

KUALA LUMPUR – From tomorrow, driving and flying schools, recreational fishing and certain sporting activities will be allowed under strict compliance with standard operating procedures, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

Gyms and golf clubs will also be allowed to operate under stringent admission conditions.

However, recreational fishing activities are only permitted at fishing ponds, kelongs (floating platforms), houseboats, and fishing boats.

These venues must first be registered with their respective local municipal or city councils, and with the Fisheries Department.

The fishing activities will be allowed to take place from 8am to 10pm during the remainder of the duration of the movement control order (MCO), he said.

In his daily media briefing on enforcement to curb the Covid-19 pandemic today, Ismail Sabri said that each recreational fishing boat is allowed to carry not more than 50% of its passenger capacity.

Flying and driving schools, meanwhile, can operate only from 7.30am to 8.30pm everyday.

As for sports, the activities permitted from tomorrow onwards are jogging, brisk walking, cycling, tennis, badminton, ping pong, and motoring.

Additionally, gymnasiums and golf courses would also be allowed but may not accept walk-in customers, but those who come according to scheduled bookings.

Changing and shower rooms would remain closed.

“All sporting and recreational activities involving touching are still not allowed,” Ismail Sabri said.

He also mentioned that 75 persons at Taman Raub Perdana in Raub have been confirmed to be close contacts of a patient infected with Covid-19.

Thus, the National Security Council (NSC) has agreed to implement an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at the area from February 12 to February 25. – The Vibes, February 11, 2021
