MIRI – Sarawak confirmed another three deaths from Covid-19 today, bringing the state’s death toll from the pandemic to 61.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat announced that the trio of fatalities were patients at Sibu Hospital.

They involved a 52-year-old woman, a 63-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

“We once again appeal to the people to obey all Covid-19 standard operating procedures in view of the persistent danger of infection in Sarawak,” said the secretariat.

It also said that there are 161 new positive infections statewide today.

Subis district recorded 60 new cases, Sibu saw 45, Bintulu 16, Kapit 15, Samarahan 12, Miri 5, and several other districts had one or two new cases each.

There are also still 16 active clusters throughout the state as of today.

Sibu Hospital is presently treating 810 Covid-19 patients, Miri Hospital (450), Kapit Hospital (188), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (147), Bintulu Hospital (139), Sarikei Hospital (56), Limbang and Saratok hospitals are treating two each, and Sri Aman and Lawas hospitals have one Covid-19 patient each.

The conditional movement control order in Sarawak was also extended today, and will remain enforced until March 1. – The Vibes, February 14, 2021
