KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah government launched its Public Service Innovation Portal (Pipa), which aims to promote its civil service innovation agenda and be a “repository for innovative ideas”, according to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Speaking at the state’s Public Sector Innovation Awards, Hajiji urged all government department heads to set up “innovation units” at their respective workplace to encourage innovation and generation of new ideas.
Calling Pipa an exemplary initiative developed by the Deputy State Secretary’s (Administration) Office, he said the portal would facilitate information sharing and showcase the innovative talents of civil servants.
Hajiji said the people had high expectations of the public sector’s delivery system, demanding excellent service all the time.
“Public service personnel are an important asset in the delivery of services to the people, besides the development of the nation and state.
“Therefore, it is imperative that they be empowered with knowledge and positive values.
“Public service personnel who excel in all aspects will be the driving force of the Sabah public sector’s success,” he said.
The event, jointly organised by the Deputy State Secretary’s (Administration) Office and the Sabah branch of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit was conducted via video conferencing.
Hajiji said the event continued a tradition of acknowledging innovation initiatives by the state and federal public sector.
“I believe the competition will be the best platform for all ministries, departments, and agencies to contribute to excellent working culture through innovative ideas of the participants,” he said.
