KUALA LUMPUR – Media Prima Bhd today confirmed that an employee of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd has been diagnosed with Covid-19 after returning from covering the Sabah election late last month.

In a statement, Media Prima said the employee has been admitted to a government hospital.

“The affected employee returned from editorial duties in Sabah on September 30 and underwent the mandatory Covid-19 test administered by the Health Ministry.

“The employee was under home quarantine before the test returned positive.”

The news group said it is working closely with the ministry to prevent the virus spreading to other staff, adding that the employee in question did not visit any of its premises upon returning from Sabah.

“Media Prima will provide the necessary support to the affected employee. We pray for their speedy recovery.” – Bernama, October 5, 2020
