KIMANIS – The infrastructure development gap between East Malaysia and Peninsular Malaysia will be among the main agenda in next week’s Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) meeting, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof today.
The minister, who is on a working visit to Sabah, said this will include road infrastructure and amenities issues.
“We were instructed to find the best ways to ensure the development gap for East Malaysia and the peninsula can be reduced.
“This is one of the things my ministry has been tasked to do – come up with a plan to address the gaps. It will be the main agenda in next week’s MA63 meeting that will be chaired by the prime minister,” said Fadillah after launching the Pan-Borneo Highway Kimanis Interchange project here, 58.6km from Kota Kinabalu.
The first MA63 meeting scheduled for April 13 involves the Special Council on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MKMA63), whose members were announced by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, who is the minister in charge of Sabah and Sarawak affairs.
The Sabah team will be headed by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Sabah State Secretary Safar Untong, Sabah Attorney-General Datuk Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof and Finance Ministry permanent secretary Rusdin Riman.
The Sarawak team will be headed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, state Attorney-General Datuk Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid and state Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman. – The Vibes, April 8, 2021
