MIRI – Sarawak logged another four Covid-19 deaths and 296 new infections today, a significant decrease from yesterday’s 555 cases.
The new fatalities bring the state’s death toll to 124, said the state Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today.
“Four new Covid-19 fatalities are confirmed with the death of a 48-year-old man in Kapit Hospital, and an 83-year-old woman, a 72-year-old man, and a 72-year-old woman – all in Sibu Hospital.”
There are two new clusters in the state today.
The Pujut Satu cluster in Miri city has 24 Covid-19 cases involving people living in the Pujut One housing estate. The other is the Jalan Bambagan cluster in Mukah town, where 14 cases were detected in a housing area.
Out of the 296 new infections today, Bintulu recorded 101 cases, followed by Kuching (41), Miri (35), Sibu (32), Matu (26), and other districts with fewer than 10 cases.
The SDMC secretariat also decided that buka puasa dinners in hotels and eateries can only be organised for families, not for associations or community groups, effective from April 12 to May 12.
These dinners will only be allowed for those with pre-bookings. Walk-ins are not allowed.
All other standard operating procedures with regards to wearing face masks, physical distancing, and personal hygiene must be observed strictly, said the secretariat. – The Vibes, April 10, 2021
