PETALING JAYA –  Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said today, 85 Sabah medical frontliners have contracted Covid-19 as of today, a stark contrast to the 66 medical frontline workers who tested positive for the whole of September.

In his daily press address today, Dr Noor Hisham said 374 new Covid-19 cases were recorded as of noon today, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 15,096. 

He said, of the new cases, 372 were locally transmitted while two were imported.

Currently, there are 4,161 active cases, with 73 requiring intensive care and 28 on oxygen support. 

On the three fatalities, Dr Noor Hisham said all of them were Malaysians in Sabah, bringing the country’s death toll to 155. 

Once again, the majority of new Covid-19 cases were in Sabah, where 277 cases were reported.

“Selangor reported 44 cases, followed by Kedah with 27 cases, all involving Tembok cluster, while Sarawak recorded nine cases, Kuala Lumpur (four) and three in Penang.

“There were two cases each in Johor, Perak and Labuan, and one case in Melaka and Putrajaya,” Dr Noor Hisham said in an online press conference via the Health Ministry’s Facebook account today. 

On a positive note, there were 73 recoveries today, bringing cumulative recoveries to 10,780 cases or 71.4% of the case tally. – The Vibes, October 10, 2020
