MIRI – Sarawakians should also be offered the choice to take the AstraZeneca vaccine, said a Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) branch chairman.

PSB Pujut chairman Bruce Chai said if the AstraZeneca vaccine is readily available, the state authorities should take some and give Sarawakians the choice to take the shots.

“I will personally sign up for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

“The Sarawak government should not reject the offer from the federal government if it wants to give the vaccine supplies to Sarawak.”

Chai, a former Miri City Council councillor, said the AstraZeneca shot will benefit Sarawak should the state government fail in securing enough doses of other vaccine brands.

“The benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine outweigh the risks.

“For those healthy and willing to accept the vaccine, there should be a freedom of choice.”

On another note, Chai is touted as a potential PSB candidate for the Pujut constituency in the upcoming 12th state polls.

PSB is an independent opposition bloc in Sarawak, which has 82 constituencies.

It is led by president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, a former state finance minister.
