KUALA LUMPUR – In the course of a week, Malaysia has witnessed a 26.5% spike in new Covid-19 clusters and a 3% increase in fresh cases, said the Health Ministry.
New clusters rose from 68 last week to 86 this week, while those declared contained declined by 31.8%, from 63 to 43.
The country saw a 3% increase in coronavirus infections this week (4,327) from last week (4,209).
Total clusters grew by 5.4% to 1,669 from 1,583 over the same period, while active ones went up 12.2% to 395 from 352.
A further breakdown found that community clusters increased from 20% to 25%, while education and occupational clusters went up 9.1% to 24 from 22.
Clusters linked to religious activities saw a hike to seven from four.
Detention centres saw another two clusters this week from one registered last week, while high-risk group clusters were up by three from zero. – The Vibes, May 3, 2021
