KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia and the Securities Commission must act against those manipulating the stock market by means of political rumour-mongering, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR president, in a statement today, denied having any interest in several stocks listed on Bursa that have seen “extraordinarily active trading and gains” of late.

“I note with concern several listed stocks on Bursa Malaysia that have seen extraordinarily active trading and gains recently, on the basis that these counters are linked to me.

“In response, I want to stress that I have no financial interests whatsoever in these stocks.”

He urged investors to invest carefully and not be swayed by rumours.

“It is an unfortunate reflection of the state of our economy that such rumours can move markets.” – The Vibes, October 12, 2020
