KUALA LUMPUR – Starting tomorrow until May 20, Hulu Besut subdistrict in Terengganu will be placed under the movement control order (MCO).
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made after the Health Ministry (MoH) detected a spike of Covid-19 cases there.
“The government previously had implemented MCO at 14 subdistricts in the Besut district from May 7 until 20. Following risks assessments conducted by various agencies, including the MCO Technical Task Force and MoH, the government has agreed to impose MCO on Hulu Besut,” he said in a statement today.
Ismail Sabri also announced EMCO at Felda Kahang Timur, Kluang, Johor; Kg Bako Hilir, Kuching, Sarawak; and extended EMCO at Felda Umas, Kalabakan, Sabah from May 12 to 25 owing to rising numbers of Covid-19 cases.
On a positive note, he also announced that EMCO at Maahad Tahfiz Al-Azhari (MTAZ), Machang, Kelantan; Kg Bangkahulu, Gemas Negri Sembilan ends today.
In addition, he announced that enhanced MCO (EMCO) at Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Batu 2 Lorong Habib Abdul Rahman and PPR Batu 8 Jalan Apas, Tawau, Sabah; Kompleks Abedon (Bumiwealth, Kolopis & Tanaki), Kinabatangan, Sabah; and SMK Ulu Balingian, Sibu, Sarawak ends tomorrow as scheduled.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said some 460 individuals were arrested yesterday for various offences related to standard operating procedures – 456 were issued compounds, while four were remanded.
The offences included failure to record customer details (106 cases), failure to wear masks (80), failure to observe social distancing (79), entertainment centre activities (50), and unauthorised interstate travel (three) and other (142).
