MIRI – The sight of children playing and running around in shopping malls without face masks has irked head of the Miri Disaster Management Committee Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

“Parents must exercise extreme caution during this time when infections are still so high.

“There have been cases of parents bringing their families to crowded shopping malls and letting their children run around, often without even wearing face masks.

“During times like this, the best place for all is still the home.

“Do not bring your children out unless it is really necessary,” he said in a statement today.

Lee, who is Senadin state assemblyman, said Miri was once a green zone without serious levels of infections, but today it has become among the highest for Covid-19 cases nationwide.

He urged the people to cooperate with state authorities in curbing the surge in infections and fatalities.

Yesterday, the Miri City Council imposed a 50% limit on the number of shoppers allowed into shopping outlets in the city as part of the enhanced control measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 infections. – The Vibes, May 14, 2021
