MIRI – A helicopter braved bad weather and landed safely in the interiors of northern Sarawak today to deliver Covid-19 vaccines and food.
This is to enable the vaccination drive in the areas of Marudi, Mulu, Long Akah, Bario, Ba'lai and Long Bedian to be conducted tomorrow.
The helicopter, belonging to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, left Miri Airport this morning ferrying vaccines and staff from the Miri Health Department as well as 731kg of food to the village of Ba’lai.
The department, in its latest update, said the vaccine doses have been delivered to government clinics in the areas concerned.
“Despite rain and dense clouds, the helicopter landed safely in the determined locations.
“The vaccines have been delivered to the clinics to be stored ahead for the vaccination (drive) that will start tomorrow,” said the department.
The food aid was provided by the Social Welfare Department to help those in rural areas of Sarawak affected by the movement control order. – The Vibes, June 11, 2021
