KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah government has expressed support for the National Recovery Plan announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin late afternoon yesterday.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor said the plan would greatly assist Sabah in its recovery measures.

“The Sabah government will give its full cooperation to ensure the four-phase recovery plan will be implemented successfully,” he said in a statement here last night.

Muhyiddin earlier announced the four-phase National Recovery Plan, a gradual relaxation of the lockdown when the pandemic situation continues to improve.

On a related development, Hajiji said the state also supports an extension of emergency rule for a further six months.

The Sulaman assemblyman expressed fear that by-elections in the vacant Batu Sapi parliamentary seat and Bugaya state seat could trigger another spike in Covid-19 cases in the state.

Earlier yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan had in his audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong proposed that the state of emergency be maintained.

Jeffrey, who is also Sabah Star president, said that he recommended during an online conference with Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for emergency to remain until the health situation in the country stabilises. – The Vibes, June 16, 2021
