GEORGE TOWN – Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah should be “the bigger person” and align himself with the reform movement advocated by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said PKR Senator Yusmadi Yusoff.

He told The Vibes that it is becoming clear that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has decided to move past his differences with the Gua Musang MP just to prevent PKR president Anwar from taking the nation’s top job.

“Our politics is getting worse, in tandem with the resurgence of Covid -19.

“Like thousands of other Malaysians, I am compelled to ask why there is bad blood between Dr Mahathir, Tengku Razaleigh and Anwar. And, what sins (Anwar) had committed against the two elderly statesmen.”

He said any ill feelings towards Anwar should not end up “paralysing” the nation, and that it is high time for Tengku Razaleigh to be the bigger person and work with the opposition leader to take the country forward.

“We also cannot back-pedal the progressive policies that Pakatan Harapan tried to adopt in the 22 months it was in power.”

Anwar has claimed to have majority support in the Dewan Rakyat, though he has yet to make known the names of the MPs in his corner.

Tengku Razaleigh and Dr Mahathir, meanwhile, are among a group of lawmakers calling for a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. – The Vibes, October 17, 2020
