KUALA LUMPUR – Tertiary students preparing to go overseas can update their details on MySejahtera to apply for expedited Covid-19 vaccination.

This has been effective since Monday.

Students must submit their university enrolment documents via the app, with processing taking 10 days, and bring the said documents to the vaccination centre.

Meanwhile, National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin told a press conference that some 400 Parliament employees, including cleaning and catering crews, received their jabs today.

He said MPs should note that staff accompanying them to Parliament are eligible for vaccination soon, given that a sitting is expected to be called in the coming weeks.

He added that Malaysia will receive one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Japan tomorrow, and another one million doses of the Pfizer jab from the United States on Friday.

“This contribution will enable us to intensify the vaccination drive and help Malaysia achieve the threshold value outlined in the National Recovery Plan.

“All the vaccines obtained will be immediately distributed to the relevant facilities and vaccination centres.”

Present at the presser was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, who spoke about Covid-19 variants in Malaysia.

“As of June 26, 1,355 genome-sequencing tests had been conducted in the country.

“We found 22 cases of the Delta variant of concern (VOC). This VOC has a high infectivity rate, similar to the Beta VOC.

“Of the 22 cases, nine were imported.”

He said the increased infectivity rate during the current lockdown is partly due to such variants.

“Although the MCO (movement control order) has been implemented since June 1, the infectivity rate is still increasing.

“This is due to the transmission of new variants, such as the Alpha, Beta and Delta VOCs.

“Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negri Sembilan are the states most affected by these variants.” – The Vibes, June 30, 2021
