KOTA KINABALU – Early voting for the Sabah elections will be held at 55 polling centres tomorrow, with 16,877 people eligible to cast their ballots.

Of the total, said Election Commission secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak in a statement today, 7,487 are armed forces personnel and their spouses, and 9,390 are police.

“The polling centres will be opened from 8am to 5pm.”

Covid-19 standard operating procedures will be in place, he said, adding that candidates’ agents and EC-appointed observers will conduct monitoring.

The voting process will be livestreamed on the EC’s Facebook page.

“All ballot boxes for early voting will be kept at police lock-ups. They will only be counted on September 26, starting at 4pm.

“The counting will be done at centres designated by the EC, and witnessed by candidates’ agents.”

The elections, scheduled for Saturday, were called following the dissolution of the state assembly on July 30. – Bernama, September 21, 2020
