KUALA LUMPUR – Come Saturday, Sabah will move into Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in an announcement said that the decision was made after evaluating the threshold values of the state.
“The special session of the National Security Council (NSC) has agreed for Sabah to move into the next phase after it achieved the three main threshold value indicators that have been set,” he said in a statement on the development of NRP today.
However, according to the press secretary to Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Boy Bairi, the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are expected to be announced tomorrow or on Saturday itself.
SOPs in Sabah usually differ from those imposed in the peninsula.
In the meantime, for the reference of the people of Sabah, the National Security Council (NSC) has issued its set of SOPs to be adhered to by states which move into Phase 2 of the NRP. They include:
– Several business sectors including automotive, ceramics, cement, rubber, metal and steel as well as furniture factories for export can operate with 80% staff attendance.
– Allowing renovation work for private and commercial structures.
– Workers’ capacity for construction sites increased from 60% to 80%.
– Book and stationery shops, computer and telecommunication shops, electrical shops, hairdressers, and car wash services are allowed to operate.
– Interstate travel for long-distance couples allowed for emergency and special circumstances with police permission.
– Workers capacity for the private service sector increased from 60% to 80%.
– Schools are allowed to open for students taking major examinations this year.
– Sports and recreational activities that do not involve physical contact are allowed outdoors and within 10 kilometres from home.
