KOTA KINABALU – Sabah recorded four new Covid-19 clusters today, two of which involved wood factories, one at a chicken farm and another at a construction company.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in his daily Covid-19 update said the first cluster, KKIP Empat Timur cluster involved two wood factories in Jalan Tuaran, Telipok and KKIP Industrial Zone.
The index case, a 51-year-old man was tested positive with the virus on July 6 and had infected 9 others.
Balak Panangah cluster in Tongod, also involving a wood factory, emerged after a driver, 47, was found positive for malaria, and then tested positive for Covid-19 on July 6.
He infected 25 of his workmates.
Jalan Membalua cluster in Tawau involved a chicken farm where the index case was a 24-year-old male non-citizen living with his family and 50 other workers at the quarters.
Twelve of his family members tested positive with the coronavirus on July 8.
The fourth cluster involved a construction company in Sandakan where the index case, a 22-year-old man tested positive for the coronavirus in Kota Kinabalu on June 28.
He had infected 15 others in Sandakan, and nine people are still awaiting test results.
Meanwhile, Sabah recorded 251 new Covid-19 cases today, with the highest in Kota Kinabalu (83), Beaufort (34) and Kudat (28).
The state currently has 16 districts categorised as red zones, or having more than 40 active cases, four districts are orange zones (21 to 40 active cases), five districts are yellow zones (1 to 20 active cases) and two districts are green zones (no active case) which are Telupid and Beluran.
Meanwhile, Masidi said the state government still stands by its decision on June 28 to allow dine-in in all restaurants and eateries including restaurants in hotels, as announced by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor today.
“All operators still have to obey standard operating procedures (SOPs), and self-service buffets are not allowed to limit unnecessary movement of customers inside the restaurant.
“All orders must be served by restaurant staff to the customers. This rule applies to all restaurants including those inside hotels,” he said. – The Vibes, July 10, 2021
