MIRI – Sarawak has made a turnabout and reimposed a statewide ban on dine-in that was earlier said to be lifted at midnight.
The state Disaster Management Committee appeared to have changed its mind after Sarawak sees a surge of 472 new Covid-19 infections and two more deaths today.
It said tonight was supposed to see the end of ban on dine-ins as Sarawak enters Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan tomorrow.
“However, the committee today made a decision to re-impose the ban on dine-ins indefinitely in view of the continuous threats posed by new infections and the Delta variant in this state.
The state’s death toll has reached 435 with the deaths of a 58-year-old woman in Sibu Hospital and a man aged 57 in Kanowit Hospital.
Of the new infections today, Miri district has 178 cases, followed by Kuching (138), Tebedu (56), Samarahan (19), Serian (17), Bau (14) and other districts with fewer than 10 cases each. – The Vibes, July 13, 2021
