MIRI – Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) MPs will throw their support behind Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when a vote of confidence to determine his legitimacy is held in Parliament next month.

A GPS source told The Vibes that it is unlikely party chairman Datuk Abang Johari Openg will change his stance.

“GPS has placed its trust in Perikatan Nasional and Muhyiddin.

“Its stance is to support the coalition and prime minister to preserve the interest of Sarawak. This looks set to continue.”

GPS comprises Parti Rakyat Sarawak, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party.

Sarawak has 31 parliamentary seats, with GPS sitting in 18.

SUPP information chief Adam Yii told The Vibes that GPS will speak as one voice.

“GPS, as one bloc, will present a united front. We will speak as one voice with a common stance. This is in the interest of Sarawak.”
