KUALA LUMPUR – Nine months ago, Nur Atiqah Nurul Supyie, 29, was all smiles when she tied the knot with the man she loved.

Her life was complete, especially after she found out that she was pregnant with their first child.

But her world fell apart on Friday, when she received news that her husband Mohamad Ehsan Sehamat, a 26-year-old Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) corporal, had been shot dead by his own comrade.

The mum-to-be can now only pray that Ehsan is placed among the righteous.

Ehsan’s sister, 31-year-old Hanisah Sehamat, told Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal, that he was a lovable person who adored children.

He was overjoyed when he found out that his wife was pregnant, and constantly talked about it, she said.

“He was very close to us and loved playing with his nephews and nieces every time he returned home to Asajaya Laut. He was anxious for the birth of his first child.

“Our family are still in shock, and it is hard to accept what had happened, but we can’t reject what has been determined by God,” said a teary-eyed Hanisah.

She said Ehsan had always been keen to be part of a uniformed unit, and it was a dream come true when he was selected to join RMAF.

He served the air force for seven years, starting at the Jugra Banting base, where he spent four years before his transfer to the Kota Samarahan base.

“Our family found out about the incident only at 9am on August 13 after the authorities at the Kota Samarahan base contacted us,” said Hanisah.

Ehsan had just returned to work the previous morning after spending a week in his hometown.

“As usual, he was happy. He even lent a helping hand to our elder sibling, selling durians at the Asajaya market,” said Hanisah.

Ehsan, along with three colleagues, died in a shooting incident at Squadron 330 of the Kota Samarahan base at 7.15am on Friday.

The others have been identified as Ho Swee Boon, Luk Nesly Nabau from Sibu, and Sharif Mohd Siddiq Al-Attas Wan Sabli from Kuching.

Three died at the scene, while Sharif died at the Kota Samarahan Cardio Hospital when receiving treatment.
