KUALA LUMPUR – Micro small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be receiving RM500 each in aid under Prihatin Special Grant (GKP 4.0) beginning next Tuesday, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement today, the prime minister said that GKP 4.0 payments will be made twice – RM500 will be given in September and another RM500 in November.

The Bera MP added that the assistance announced via the National People’s Well-being and Economic Recovery Package will benefit more than one million micro SMEs to ease their financial burden in these challenging times.

“This initiative involves existing recipients of GKP 1.0, GKP 2.0, GKP 3.0 and new recipients of GKP 4.0, with financial implications of RM500 million. Payment will be credited directly to the bank account registered in the GKP system.

“Recipients can check on the GKP 4.0 approval status from 20 September via GKP’s portal at https://gkp.hasil.gov.my,” he said today.

Ismail Sabri said that the total allocation, which has been and will be channelled into micro SMEs under GKP, is RM6.08 billion.

He said that he hopes government assistance can mobilise and revive the SME sector, which he called the engine of economic growth for his “Keluarga Malaysia” concept.

“The government gives priority to these industry players as they are among the most affected sectors during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Hopefully, this aid can ease the burden and help with the cash flow of small traders such as food stall owners, barbershops, workshops, and bakeries.” – The Vibes, September 17, 2021
