MIRI – Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Masing, who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday and has since been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, is a Category 3 patient.
The Parti Rakyat Sarawak president, currently in the hospital’s intensive care unit, in a Facebook post yesterday said he is coping with his illness, which sees him experiencing fever, cough, loss of appetite, and water in the lungs.
“As I lay on my ICU hospital bed in SGH, Kuching, trying to recover from Covid-19, I thought that after two doses of the vaccine, I would be safe… But I am not safe!
“I just hope the severity will not be there. Only time will tell.
“If I am free of the disastrous impact of Covid-19, the vaccine is indeed the tool to fight Covid-19.
“I advise those who haven’t been vaccinated to do so ASAP. You must take the Covid-19 pandemic very seriously.”
Many netizens wished him well, expressing hope that he makes a full recovery.
Some social media users pointed out that Sarawak cannot rush into the endemic phase – something that Masing recently advocated for.
“Tan Sri, this is still a very serious pandemic in Sarawak, as you’ve mentioned. So, we cannot consider Covid-19 as endemic,” said a Facebook user.
