KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council has agreed to impose the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at the Kota Kinabalu temporary detention centre from Tuesday to November 16, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
“This EMCO will involve 1820 detainees and 114 staff members at the detention centre. The standard operating procedure (SOP) is similar to other EMCO areas, such as no exiting or entering the premises and so on,” he said in today’s press briefing.
He also said the EMCO was imposed after 56 detainees tested positive for Covid-19 positive as of Friday.
Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at the Alor Star Prison ends tomorrow, after it there were no new Covid-19 positive cases for the past seven days.
Besides that, he said the police have arrested 485 individuals for violating MCO regulations.
“From that number, 480 individuals were issued compounds while five individuals were remanded.”
Among the MCO violations include not wearing a face mask (162), physical distancing (123), failure to provide tools to record details (79), activities at entertainment centres (25), premises operating beyond stipulated time/without permission (13), and others (83). – The Vibes, November 1, 2020
