KOTA KINABALU – Lahad Datu MP Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi’s decision to leave Warisan was expected by the party several days ago, said a Warisan leader.
The party’s Supreme Council member Azhar Matussin said it is not easy to be an honest people’s representative who is loyal to the people’s mandate, and that Mohamaddin had chosen the easy way.
“Mohamaddin had left his struggle and his comrades. Now, he is conspiring with parties that he used to slam. The people know how to judge this when the time comes.
“We wish him all the best. We, who are still in Warisan, will continue to be with the party leadership led by president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier today, the 64-year-old political frog announced his immediate departure from the Sabah-based party to become a government-friendly independent, blaming the lack of development for Lahad Datu and Segama on being in the state opposition bloc.

Meanwhile, Azhar, who is also Darau assemblyman, said that he is confident that other Warisan reps are still focused on helping the people who have been affected by the pandemic and providing the best service to those in their constituency.
“We don’t have to hop parties to focus on serving the people as the government has the full responsibility to develop all districts in Sabah.
“We must stand firm with our principles once we are elected as the people’s representatives and stand firm with Warisan,” he said.
Mohamaddin is the third Warisan leader to have exited the party.
Earlier this year, Sebatik rep Hassan A. Gani Pg Amir and Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Yusof Yacob left the party.
