KOTA KINABALU – Non-Sabahans are now allowed to enter the state for social visits beginning tomorrow, provided that they are fully vaccinated.
Visitors must also be tested negative for Covid-19 on an RT-PCR test at least three days prior to entering Sabah.
In a statement today, Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that teenagers aged 12 to 18 must have received at least one dose of vaccination to enter the state.
Meanwhile, children aged 12 and below are allowed to enter the state accompanied by fully vaccinated parents.
Foreign travellers under four categories are allowed to enter the state, namely spouse or dependant of a Sabahan; Sabah’s permanent residents; working pass holders in essential service and their dependants; investors upon an invitation from the government (domestic and international); and temporary pass holders (MyKAS Sabah and IMM13 Sabah).
All travellers must possess a valid working pass, social visit pass, and other required documents to enter the state.
On Covid-19 development in the state, Masidi said that Sabah is showing an obvious yo-yo trend as the number of daily cases dropped today after seeing a surge yesterday.
He said the state registered 447 new infections today, which is a reduction of 203 cases from yesterday’s 650 cases.
“However, the decrease in cases is usually temporary, and the daily cases would fluctuate from time to time,” he said.
Out of 447 cases today, 236 cases (52.8%) are new cases registered within 24 hours after the test results came out. The rest are backlog cases from at least two days ago.
In Kota Kinabalu, which is the only district in Sabah registering more than 50 new cases, 84 new cases were recorded and out of the total, 78 cases are backlog cases from at least two days ago.
About 98% of the new cases today are in Categories 1 (51) and 2 (383), while patients in Categories 3, 4, and 5 remain low with two, three, and two patients respectively. – The Vibes, October 31, 2021
