MIRI – The armed forces has set up a field hospital in Sibu to accommodate new Covid-19 patients.
Former state assistant health minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the field hospital, which is located adjacent to the Sibu Hospital is ready.
“It will be open for use tomorrow.
“It will accommodate new patients for non-Covid-19 cases.
“The main hospital wards can then accommodate more (Covid-19) patients,” he said after inspecting the site today.
Dr Annuar is incumbent state assemblyman for Nangka.
He thanked the armed forces for their speedy action in setting up the field hospital on such short notice.
“The army has been helping our community a lot during this Covid-19 pandemic.
“They play an important role in helping the state to manage the logistic challenges that we are facing.
“We, the people of Sarawak are grateful to them,” he said.
The armed forces have also set up similar field hospitals in Kuching, Miri and Bintulu.
Today, Sarawak recorded 416 new infections and 13 more confirmed Covid-19 deaths in Kuching, Betong, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu. – The Vibes, November 10, 2021
