SANDAKAN – The Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) has pushed forward a proposal to allow Sabah express bus operators to resume operations.
They have not been allowed to do so during the conditional movement control order (CMCO).
CLVB chairman, Datuk Chin Kim Hiung said the application will be sent to the Sabah Disaster Management Committee and the federal Transport Ministry to allow express buses to operate with certain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The proposed SOP would require express bus companies and passengers that travel across districts to get first permission from police.
“They (operators) also need to prepare My Sejahtera QR code and have all passengers scan the code, record information of the passengers, and disinfect their buses and facilities after the trip,” he said.
Chin also said that the proposed SOP would allow only half capacity for the buses.
“We heard the concern and problems faced by Sabah Express Bus Operators and Drivers Association (SEBOC) that had requested for financial assistance to help them cope during this difficult time.
“CVLB will also take this to the attention of the Transport Ministry,” he added. – The Vibes, November 2, 2020.
