KOTA KINABALU – A foreigner was sentenced to one year in jail by the Lahad Datu magistrates’ court for using the MyKad of another individual to obtain two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

She was charged under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (Amendment 2007) for possessing another person’s identity card and falsely using it as her own on two occasions.

Magistrate Ryan Sagirann Rayner Jr handed the sentence to the woman on November 19 after finding her guilty of committing three national registration offences.

The first offence involved the illegal possession of another person’s MyKad and trying to pass off a fake MyKad as genuine under the name of Marajum Pengiran.

The second offence was the woman’s use of the MyKad to obtain the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine on August 17.

The final offence involved the woman using the same MyKad to obtain the second dose of the vaccine on September 7, according to a statement by the Sabah National Registration Department. – The Vibes, November 20, 2021
