KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council (NSC) has decided to impose a conditional movement control order (CMCO) for nine sub-districts in Seremban starting Thursday to November 18, due to the Covid-19 surge.
The affected areas are Ampangan, Seremban, Bandar Seremban, Labu, Rantau, Rasah, Setul, Pantai dan Lenggeng.
“The SOPs (standard operating procedures) for Seremban are the same as other areas under CMCO, such as no interstate and inter-district travel unless holding proper documentation, work permits and support letters from employers.
“Only one or two family members are allowed to shop for groceries. Senior citizens, who are the most susceptible, and children are discouraged from going out. All educational institutions to close and social activities will not be allowed.”
Meanwhile, the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) are lifted in nine prisons and correctional centres in the northern region and Selangor.
The said facilities are the Perlis correctional centre, Sg Petani Prison, Taiping Prison, Kamunting correctional centre, Tapah Prison, Sg Buloh Remand Prison, Kajang Prison, Kajang’s Women Prison and Puncak Alam correctional centre.
“However, the EMCO in Seberang Prai Prison and living quarters will be extended until November 18,” said Ismail Sabri.
On the supposed lack of food aid in EMCO areas, he said such assistance has always been supplied by the state and federal governments, adding that those who have not received it should contact the relevant authorities.
“The government has been distributing food aid to the locals. If there is an issue, call the state’s disaster management committee or the NSC, be it at the state or federal level. You can also contact Nadma (National Disaster Management Agency).
“In fact, supplies are also given to foreigners who are trapped in the country. But usually, the non-governmental organisations are the ones doing this on a humanitarian basis.” – The Vibes, November 3, 2020
