KOTA KINABALU – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) plans to build 35 4G sites in Sabah’s urban and suburban areas soon under its National Digital Network (Jendela) programme.

The scheme also aims to upgrade 924 existing 2G and 3G base stations in rural areas to 4G capability, so as to increase internet speeds by next year, said state Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Yakub Khan.

He was speaking after a briefing on Jendela given by state MCMC director Izani Othman yesterday.

Yakub expressed hope that the plan will be executed smoothly and consumers’ increasing need for good internet coverage will be met. – The Vibes, November 5, 2020
