MIRI – A Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leader has predicted that the incumbent coalition has “already secured victory” in the 12th Sarawak election three days before the December 18 polls.

Speaking during his visits to kampungs in Bekenu and Lambir constituencies, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said his call was made following feedback throughout the state over the voters’ expected sentiment on polling day.

“I have been all over the state, from the urban constituencies to the rural seats.

“I can say for sure victory is already in the hands of GPS,” he declared.

PBB is the backbone of the GPS coalition, with the other component parties being Sarawak United Peoples Party, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Progressive Democratic Party.

He also pointed out that the people at places he visited wanted GPS to continue governing the state.

“The support is comprehensive even from the rural communities.

“They support our programmes to improve their livelihood, and to develop their native lands,” he said.

Despite victory at hand, Awang said voters must turn out in big numbers to cast their ballot papers.
