KUALA LUMPUR – The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a continuous rain alert for Perlis, Kedah, Penang and the Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama areas in Perak until today.

In a statement posted on MetMalaysia’s Facebook page, its director-general, Muhammad Helmi Abdullah, said this was caused by the tropical depression observed in Sumatera waters moving east, approaching the northern peninsula.

“This situation can cause continuous rain and strong winds in the northern states of the peninsula, which can trigger floods in low-lying areas,” he said. – Bernama, December 21, 2021
