LANGKAWI — The round trip shuttle ferry involving the Langkawi-Kuala and Kedah-Langkawi route is limited to one trip a day starting today until the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) ends, says Malaysian Marine Department northern region director, Mohd Hafiz Abdul Majid.

He said he had earlier received an application from the Ferry Line Ventures Consortium to reduce the number of daily ferry trips involving both routes and the application had been sent to headquarters for approval.

"The Malaysian Marine Department has approved the ferry operator's application. Starting today, there will be only one trip for the Langkawi-Kuala Kedah and Kuala Kedah-Langkawi route.

“The ferry from Langkawi to Kuala Kedah is scheduled at 10am, while the ferry from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi at 5pm. This schedule is effective from tomorrow until the end of CMCO,” he told Bernama yesterday.

Mohd Hafiz said apart from that, the operator had also applied to stop operations involving the Kuala Perlis-Langkawi-Kuala Perlis route during the CMCO period.

"This application has also been approved during the CMCO, the passenger ferry from Kuala Perlis-Langkawi-Kuala Perlis will suspend operations," he said. — Bernama, November 9, 2020
