KOTA KINABALU – Sabah recorded under 3,000 new Covid-19 cases for the first time today since February 10, with 2,874 cases registered after a decline of 861 cases from yesterday.
Sabah Covid-19 official spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that while it is good news, the declining trend may not last given the percentage of sporadic cases (cases with unknown sources of infections) is still high at 58.8% today.
He said backlog cases also affected today’s figure.
Kota Kinabalu district continues to record the highest number of cases in the state with 775 cases, followed by Tuaran (324), Penampang (272), Putatan (210), Tenom (160), Papar (151), Kota Belud (131), Tawau (127), and Keningau (120).
A new cluster was reported in Tenom today – the Tolokoson Kem Dua Cluster, bringing the total of active clusters in the state to 42.
It is a workplace cluster that started from a migrant worker, 59, in Sino Hudro Kem Dua Tolokoson who infected 137 more workers.
A total of 99.47% or 2,859 out of today’s cases are mild cases in Categories 1 and 2, while another six cases are in Category 3, seven cases in Category 4, and two cases classified as Category 5.
