KOTA KINABALU – The percentage of sporadic Covid-19 cases or cases with unknown sources of infection remains high in Sabah at 60.4% today, indicating that the state should not relax the standard operating procedures despite the declining daily cases.
However, new cases had reduced by 198 from yesterday, as the state registers 1,154 new Covid-19 cases today.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in his statement today said all 27 districts in the state are still categorised as red zones (over 40 active cases), and the state recorded four Covid-19 related deaths today, one each in Sandakan, Keningau, Kota Belud, and Tenom.
Kota Kinabalu contributed most with 265 new cases registered today, followed by Papar (109), Tuaran (91), Beaufort (86), Sandakan (76), Penampang (65), Keningau (57), and Putatan (40).
Out of today’s new cases, 1,138 cases or 98.61% are mild (Categories 1 and 2), while seven cases are in Category 3, five cases in Category 4, and four cases in Category 5.
As for vaccination, 76.84% of Sabah’s adult population have completed vaccination, 74.08% of teenagers have been fully vaccinated, and 17.5% of children aged 5 to 11 have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. – The Vibes, March 10, 2022
