KUALA LUMPUR – Actor Zul Ariffin, under pressure for sharing a controversial teaser trailer for his upcoming Perempuan Itu drama, said today that he has met with the country’s internet regulators regarding an investigation on the matter.

This morning, Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said an investigation had been launched against Zul over the raunchy video, which depicted scenes of sexual innuendo between the actor and his co-star Siti Hariesa.

In a brief post on Instagram, Zul said he had given his “full cooperation” to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission regarding the investigation.

Earlier today, Annuar said Zul, 35, will be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities or network service, which carries a penalty of a fine of no more than RM50,000, up to a year in jail or both.

In one scene in the teaser trailer, Zul was shown removing his shirt and later lifting Siti Hariesa up while she entwined her legs around him.

Siti Hariesa was also dressed in a French maid outfit in another scene, feeding Zul whipped cream while seated astride him.

The controversial clip swiftly earned criticism and the disapproval of at least two federal ministers.

Zul apologised for posting the video after the backlash and has since deleted the video from his social media. – The Vibes, March 22, 2022
