ALOR STAR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor slammed Salmee Said (Kota Siputeh-PH) when wrapping up the state assembly sitting today, accusing the latter of focusing on trivial matters instead of more severe issues.

During the debate, Sanusi claimed that the opposition lawmaker had paid more attention to issues like potholes and grass growing at roadsides, instead of looking at the good the current state government has done for Kedah.

Sanusi said the state has spent RM243.96 million to repair roads under the state and local governments, in villages and agricultural land.

“We did what Pakatan Harapan (PH) could not do, so please, when it is your turn to speak, don’t be like a fly looking for dead animals; be a bee that looks for flowers.

“Your heart is deceitful, that is why you can’t see the good things we have done for the state.

“But it is okay, I will ensure that the roads in Kota Siputeh are better than the ones in Jeneri,” Sanusi, who is also the assemblyman for Jeneri, quipped.

Sanusi added that Kedah is the first state to set the roads under Lembaga Kemajuan Pertanian Muda as village roads so that the roads can be repaired under Sistem Maklumat Rekod Jalan Raya with its yearly allocation.

He also denied a RM4 million agreement between himself, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAM), and consultants to build a dormitory as claimed by Salmee during the session yesterday.

“That is a heavy accusation and you cannot prove it. You are giving UniSHAM, the consultants, and the state a very bad name.

“If you have the proof, then please make a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission,” he said.

When she wanted to rebut, Sanusi asked her to sit down, saying that he had enough of her talk for the past two days of the assembly.

Sanusi said the plans to build the dormitory that will fit 2,000 students were confirmed in January.

It will be a build-operate-transfer project by a private company.

The scope of the project will be reviewed by a committee consisting of representatives from UniSHAM, the Public Works Department, and the state finance office.

The bidding is through a request for proposal which will be managed by a consulting team that will be appointed by UniSHAM.

This RFP offer document will be released in May.

“The document will only be released in May; how can you accuse me of requesting money from the consultants?

“Therefore, the accusations from Kota Siputeh are untrue and unfounded,” he declared. – The Vibes, March 23, 2022
