KUALA LUMPUR – Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today announced 1,304 new Covid-19 infections today.
The new recoveries today stand at 900, increasing the cumulative recoveries to 32,969.
The ministry also recorded one new death, bringing the death toll to 304.
There are four new clusters today – Bonggaya and Jambatan B in Sandakan, Abell in Kuching and BMU in Jasin, Melaka. The total positive cases from these clusters today are at 123 while 206 are awaiting results.
Meanwhile, the increase in new cases in the Klang Valley is attributed to three clusters – Damanlela construction site (191), Hentian (164) and Perigi (82).
He said although a lot of infections happen at the workplace, the contributing factor is community activities such as weddings and functions. Employees then carry the virus to the workplace as the washroom, pantry and kitchen are high contact areas.
The ministry is still looking at ways to improve contact tracing as one Covid-19 test is not enough. Most of the time, patients do not show symptoms and temperature scanning is not effective.
The ministry is also worried about locations with higher populations such as Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. They are also looking at ways to reduce interstate travelling, especially between Penang and Kedah. – The Vibes, November 13, 2020
