LANGKAWI – Police today said they are investigating a case of alleged bullying at a school here, which was documented in a short video clip that went viral on social media.

Langkawi district police chief Shariman Ashari said police received a report on the incident, which is believed to have happened at 9am.

“We have received a report over the incident and our initial investigation revealed that a misunderstanding between the students could have sparked the fight,” he said.

In the 25-second video, eight students were seen attacking one of their schoolmates, kicking and pushing him down and later stepping on him.

Shariman said police believe the video was recorded by one of their classmates.

He said the victim has been sent to the Sultanah Maliha Hospital, where it was confirmed that the victim did not suffer from any injuries.

Police have identified the students involved in the altercation, and the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. – The Vibes, April 28, 2022
