KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya should negotiate for e-hailing drivers to pay a lower fee to their companies, proposed Noor Amin Ahmad (Kangar-Pakatan Harapan) in the Dewan Rakyat today.

“Many people who lost their jobs became Grab (e-hailing) drivers. I urge the Transport Ministry to play an active role and act as a moderator in discussions to reduce charges imposed on drivers.”

Citing an example, he said if e-hailing companies previously imposed a 20% charge on e-hailing drivers for each booking, the government should negotiate for a reduction to 10%.

In 2018, former transport minister Anthony Loke implemented new regulations on e-hailing companies, which includes limiting the commission charged on drivers to 20% – The Vibes, November 17, 2020
