KUALA LUMPUR – The iconic roars of 112 Lamborghinis could be heard on the streets of Kuala Lumpur yesterday as drivers congregated to break the nearly decade-long record of most Lamborghinis collected in one location.
Gathered at the open-air parking lot opposite the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at around 10.30am, Lamborghini Owners Malaysia (LOM) members and owners of the luxury vehicle who were interested in joining the club had treated the public to a visual and auditory delight.
Some of the notable treats spotted include rare and vintage Lamborghini models such as the Murcielago and Gallardo Malaysia Limited Edition, the latter of which only saw 20 units being produced.
Other modern standouts such as the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, Aventador SVJ and Urus SUV were also among the flashy display enjoyed by fans of the House of the Raging Bull.
Nine years ago, 77 supercars had gathered in the same venue to commemorate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary and had earned a spot in the Malaysian Book of Records for the most Lamborghinis at an event.
To commemorate the breaking of the record, a lion dance performance began the moment car number 78, driven by LOM president Datuk Roslan Rosdi himself, turned into the car park and officiated the feat.
“This milestone in our club’s history also marks our ode to the legendary Lamborghini brand, which celebrates beauty and performance infused with an indomitable spirit,” he was quoted as saying in a statement by LOM yesterday.
Officials from the Malaysian Book of Records had handed over the certificate confirming the setting of a new record and were greeted by joyful cheers from all in attendance.
After a quick celebration at the parking lot, the convoy of Lamborghinis was flagged off at about 1pm, departing from the location to enjoy the glamorous Bulls Ball and a one-night stay at The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort.
Previously, Roslan had said that the club will be honouring the underprivileged by donating a sizable contribution from its members and partners to several charities.
He added that he has always made it a point to engage with local orphanages and expose children to the intricacies of a Lamborghini. – The Vibes, June 12, 2022
