[UPDATED] Travel allowed between green zones: Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians will be allowed to travel from one green zone to another, the National Security Council said today, following discussions with the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

“For example, if someone from Pahang wants to travel within the state to Taman Negara, they can do so,” Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told his daily press briefing.

He said interstate travel is allowed between green zones in different states.

However, he said police permission must still be sought if the green zone interstate travel includes passing by red zones.

“People can now travel between green states by passing by a red state provided they have police permission. 

“For example, someone from Pahang can travel to Johor. But if they pass Negri Sembilan, which is a red state, they must get police permission and they will not be allowed to stop in anywhere in the red state.”

He said even if a resident lives in a green zone but his state is under the conditional movement control order (CMCO), he has to obtain police permission to travel to another green zone within the state.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri announced that the CMCO will end in Kedah, Johor, Melaka and Terengganu following a drop in Covid-19 cases.

This will mean that travel will be allowed within those states, including Sarawak. 

However, Kulim in Kedah will remain under CMCO, similar to Kota Tinggi and Mersing in Johor as the districts still have a high number of Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the NSC will implement a CMCO in Kelantan for two weeks starting tomorrow until December 6. – The Vibes, November 20, 2020
