KUALA LUMPUR – Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa today issued a notice of demand to news portal Malaysiakini and Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai to retract and apologise for statements and reports about Kuala Lumpur City Hall's land deals published yesterday.

Mkini Dotcom Sdn Bhd and its editor-in-chief, Steven Gan, were named in the notice of demand issued by the firm Shahrul Hamidi & Haziq, which is acting on Annuar's behalf.

Annuar is demanding a retraction, apology and damages over an article titled “MP Cheras dakwa 42 plot tanah DBKL dijual sejak Annuar jadi menteri”.

He also issued a similar notice to Tan.

The notice to Tan reads that Annuar was rural development minister from 1993 to 1999, and youth and sports minister from 1990 to 1993.

Yesterday, Annuar said he would pursue legal action against Tan after the latter accused him of selling 42 plots of DBKL land since becoming Federal Territories minister.

He said the DAP lawmaker’s claim is baseless and defamatory, and has affected his reputation, as well as that of DBKL.

Annuar said that, since becoming minister about eight months ago, he has not received any application from DBKL pertaining to the sale of its assets.

DBKL had also yesterday issued a statement, saying "the allegations are not true at all".

"Based on our checks, there are 42 privately owned plots of land in Kuala Lumpur that applied for changes of use, density and plot ratio to the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 (KLCP 2020).

“The Federal Territory (Planning) Act 1982 (Act 267) provides for landowners to change the use of land, density and plot ratio in the local plan (KLCP 2020), which has been gazetted. This provision is in line with Section 17 of Act 267.”  – The Vibes, November 20, 2020
