IPOH – A RM250 fine will be imposed on business premises in the city if they refuse to comply with instructions to fly the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with this year’s National Day celebrations.

Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said the compound will be issued in accordance with the general conditions written on the back of each business premises’ licence under Section 107(2) of the Local Government Act.

“To enliven the celebrations this time, we have issued 6,000 flag installation notices to private premises in Ipoh and hoisted more than 5,000 Jalur Gemilang along the main streets and around the city.

“We will monitor these premises regularly usually a week before National Day, but all this time, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) is still being tolerant by giving advice instead of issuing compounds,” he said after launching the 2022 MBI-level Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign at Persiaran Bandaraya here today.

Over 1,000 city folks enlivened the programme, which also featured a variety of interesting activities, including a parade of the MBI enforcement team, a performance and the installation of the Jalur Gemilang on MBI’s official vehicles. – Bernama, August 18, 2022
