PUTRAJAYA – The Health Ministry has identified three new clusters today while four have declared closed, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The three new clusters are the Pengkalan Barat, Bakti and Bayam Indah clusters.

Dr Noor Hisham said the four clusters closed are the Kasih, Baiduri, Long and Bestari clusters.

On the new clusters, Dr Noor Hisham said the Pengkalan Barat cluster involves southwest Penang, as well as the districts of Kerian, Kuala Kangsar and Kinta in Perak, which reported Covid-19 cases from a workplace screening on November 10.

“As of today, 251 individuals have screened with 19 positive cases detected in the cluster," he said in a statement today.

The Bakti cluster involves a prison in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, with the index case (54,624th case) being an inmate discovered through prison admission screening.

Dr Noor Hisham said today, 481 individuals were screened with 16 positive cases found in the cluster.

He said the Bayam Indah cluster involves the Kulim and Kuala Muda in Kedah, with 70 individuals screened. Ten positive cases were detected in the cluster.

“The index case (case 53,580) for the Bayam Indah cluster was found in a screening yesterday,” he said.

He said the latest development brings the total number of active clusters to 167, with 54 of them reporting more cases. – Bernama, November 22, 2020
