[UPDATED] I’m not worried, says Redzuan on Budget 2021 support

KUALA LUMPUR – There are enough “sensible people” in the Dewan Rakyat who will vote for Budget 2021, said Minister (Special Functions) in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohammad Redzuan Yusof in a press conference outside Parliament.

On whether the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government has enough MPs to back the budget this Thursday, Redzuan (Bersatu-Alor Gajah) said: “If you look at the number of sensible people, we have enough.”

“I cannot say for sure if we have 120 or 125, but on average, there are enough sensible people who understand what the government is doing and will support us. I am not worried.”

He also said that the budget was not bipartisan, being a PN budget.

Meanwhile, Putrajaya is reviewing the need to extend the conditional movement control order (CMCO) until the year’s end, Redzuan told the Dewan Rakyat today.

“The government is studying the need to extend the CMCO until year-end if needed, taking into account the possibility that Covid-19 cases could still be high.”

He added that the government is aware of the difficulties faced by the people due to the economic recession, which is why standard operating procedures are constantly updated and improved.

Redzuan also said that the RM150 million for the National Disaster Management Agency in Budget 2021 will be used to manage and operate gazetted quarantine centres, as well as operations at arrival gates of KLIA and klia2.

The funds will also be used to manage persons under surveillance, which Redzuan said will include the disabled and B40 groups. – The Vibes, November 23, 2020
