Protect users’ data, Muslim Pro told

KUALA LUMPUR – The Personal Data Protection Department (PDPD) has urged mobile app Muslim Pro to ensure the safety of users’ personal data.

Referring to the alleged sale of Muslim Pro users’ data to the US military for counterterrorism purposes, the department, in a statement yesterday, said the Islamic app’s developer has refuted the claim and provided an explanation on the matter.

“Muslim Pro explained that the information given previously to X-Mode was not personal data. Muslim Pro is committed to protecting users’ personal data in accordance with the law and regulations pertaining to personal data protection.

“Until now, as many as 72% of Muslim Pro users are unregistered, and it increases the anonymity (of users) of the app.”

Established in 2009, Muslim Pro was developed by tech company Bitsmedia, with its headquarters in Singapore. – Bernama, November 24, 2020
